Post-Charismatic? Update
![]() | A quick update on the availability of Post-Charismatic?: Despite acknowledging that the book is well-researched and would be a helpful resource, David C. Cook (USA) has declined to distribute the book in the United States, citing reservations from their sales department. Cook Canada had earlier indicated that it would have the book by last month, but a recent visit to their website shows that the book is still "on order", as it has been for some time. |
My apologies to the many interested Americans who have been asking about when the book would finally be available in the USA. It appears that your best option at this point in time would be to order it from Canada.
Again, my apologies, but it's really out of my hands.

wow. sounds like you have something to say and Satan doesn't want this book here.
I'll order it online.
*sigh*
Hi, I came to your site because of our shared interest in being a Friend of Missional. I am glad to make your acquaintance and visit your blog. God bless!
so what is this study about? I did not find much on your site, but maybe I didn't search well enough.
Would you connect with me and my thoughts as they are expressed on Promise of the Father
as far as i know the book is on shelves and available in canada. i'll check with some folks tomorrow.
and what the hell is up with DCC USA? what possible reservations could they have? i mean, they just published the followup to pagan christianity. if ever a christian publishing company was going to have reservations it would be with frank viola or i guess maybe someone from the jesus seminars. surely not someone who writes and delving, biting yet gracious history of the charismatic movement.
Post-Charismatic is a most timely book and much-needed in the church today. The balanced history and teaching that Rob provides concerning the history of various charismatic movements would be a healthy corrective for all who are affected by the influence of those movements today. It is disappointing that Cook USA has not recognized the importance of this book.
i read post charismatic when it was in the online form and it was wonderful. this book is very needed for the many people who have come out of the charismatic movement and have been burned by it. shoot, just advertise it on the ooze and you'll get lots of sales if that is what the publisher is worried about. as someone who skipped charismatic and went straight to post-charismatic, i greatly desire to see others find healing and freedom from the wounds inflicted upon them by unhealthy charismatic churches. the church needs both the gifts of the Spirit AND the fruit of the Spirit.
Wow, I been soooo waiting for this book. What on Earth would be the reason for not publishing it in the US? It's just as valid here as anywhere else...lots of post-charismatics loom about. Better yet, people in the US need to hear that there is an option in participating in gifts of the spirit that is not decidedly "charismatic." I hope this book gets published here! Break the "charismatic" monopoly (and desecration) of the expression of charismata!
i bought my copy in a little reformed christian bookshop tucked away in the corner of Swansea indoor market whilst we were camping.
think it's a great read and devoured it in 48 hours. i am part of a pentecostal church and a lot of the points rang true.
