Favourite Christmas Carol

Everyone has their favourites. A tradition in the robbymac clan is that the tree gets decorated on the first Saturday of December, and the soundtrack is always A Charlie Brown Christmas on CD, and later we watch The Muppet Christmas Carol as we drink eggnog.
But when it comes to Christmas carols, I have absolutely ZERO difficulty picking out a favourite: O Holy Night. The melody of this song is incredibly beautiful and powerful, and the lyrics -- oh man, the LYRICS -- are just in a class of their own.
Oh holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born;
Oh night divine, Oh holy night.

Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother;
And in His name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! O praise His Name forever,
His power and glory evermore proclaim.
His power and glory evermore proclaim.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I like everything Christmas so it's tough for me to pick a favorite, hmmm... Oh Come Emmanual (love to melancholy feel) and Angels We Have Heard On High, and at all the other ones that bring attention to Christ. The other 'having fun' Christmas songs are good too, but far and away I prefer Christmas songs about my Saviour.

Absolutely best new Christmas song would be Reliant K's "I Celebrate the Day". Just thinking about it gets me teary-eyed.
"...tonight, we celebrate the day, that you were born to die, so one day I could pray for you to save my life."

Merry Christmas. God Bless.

And I love O Little Town of Bethlehem:

O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight

Wishing you a peaceful Christmas season Robby!

Rob, if you haven't already, look up the story of how OHN was written. Truly inspiring.
