CSI: Horatio Dork

A couple of people -- most notably my little sister and Roger Helland -- have emailed me to say that the picture of me that was formerly on this blog looks like I'm holding a joint in my hand.

I told my daughter Jo about it, so she surfed to the blog, burst out laughing, and said, "Yeah, Dad, looks like you're contemplating a doobie..."

For the record, it was my glasses (lens reflection can be confusing to the suspiciously-minded). The picture was taken at our YWAM party last month, where I was hamming it up like Horatio of CSI: Miami, who is perpetually either:
  1. putting on his sunglasses before saying something pithy and profound before a commercial break, OR

  2. taking his sunglasses OFF before saying something pithy and profound before a commercial break.
Either way, the picture has been deep-sixed until I find something (A) non-questionable, and (B) where I don't look like a dork.

I cannot stand Horatio and his glasses antics. He drives me BATTY! You are MUCH more tolerable- even cool!

Peace,
Jamie

It's a standing joke in our house. The glasses on. The glasses off.

The original CSI is still the best one of the three.

Same mocking in our house. We agree. The original is still the best.

Yes, Grissom is king. I don't bother with NY, but I still watch Miami. It helps that I'm often working on my laptop while I watch, so I only actually see about half or less of the sunglass antics. Thing is, the delivery is such that you can always tell when he's doing it, even without looking.

And concerning that photo, I kinda miss it. It definitely looked like a joint, but I never said anything because, well, maybe that was your secret to ingenious blog posts all along.

Hey Robby, even the Dutchman in the audience did not recognize it as a joint (or maybe I am too used to it). I liked the picture! Here in the Netherlands even the suggestion of a joint would back up your live and vision as an ecclesiastical anarchist. But I can imagine that's not the case in Canada. As long as you stay Jesus-style anarchistic I am allright with a "less-questionable picture".

I was just wondering if you had an earring and I missed the entire "holding something questionable" aspect.

Grace,

Actually, I have THREE earrings -- two in my left ear and one in my right.

But I don't paint my toenails. :)

Yes, CSI: Vegas is still the best but I look past Horatio's cheeze and schmaltz (yes, it's there) to enjoy a character whose passion for justice and care for friends is still heroic.

That or I just think cheeze can still be cool. :)

ahhh...CSI. I'm a total CSI geek. And as melodramatic as Horatio is, I find him strangely endearing hehe.

As for the picture, I must be oblivious because I don't even remember what the picture looked like. I do think I noticed your earrings. My hubby David only has 2 earrings right now but at one point he had 5 I think - plus an eyebrow ring (which got accidentally ripped out before we met)...and he has a couple tattoos and is working on the design for a third. And I have my nose pierced...

we're very hip rebels...ROFLOL man I couldn't even type that with a straight face.

New pic in place. It's now a dork-free zone simply because...

...it's not quite in focus, and my guitar is better looking than me anyway.
