Assorted Quotes

Here's some quotes I've been rediscovering as I looked through a Philosophy of Ministry that I wrote back in mid-2000, for a proposed alternative "postmodern" church-within-a-church model for our church in Los Angeles, California.

These are the kind of things that tended to jump off the page when I first read them, and still provide a welcome encouragement, and sometimes a welcome kick in the posterior.
"We are only now emerging from a long ice age during which an undue emphasis was laid upon objective truth at the expense of subjective experience." (A.W. Tozer)
"About 3 in the morning, as we were continuing instant in prayer, the power of God came mightily upon us, so that many cried out for exulting joy and many fell to the ground." (John Wesley)
"Leaders cannot expect to have beliefs and not pay a price for those beliefs... Carved in wood over the door of a church in Ohio are these words: Enter at your own risk." (Leonard Sweet)
"I do not care how you structure your churches, as long as you do not impose those structures on your grandchildren." (John Wimber)
"Refuse to be average or surrender to the chill of your spiritual environment. We can afford to suffer now; we will have a long eternity to enjoy ourselves." (A.W. Tozer)
